Welcome to CARE -- a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter for abused and abandoned cats and dogs. We are located in Ruskin, Florida.

Most of the animals that come to CARE need just a few weeks of special care before they are ready for adoption to a good home. Others, who are older or sick or have suffered extreme trauma, become CARE ambassadors and find a special home at CARE for the rest of their lives.

The mission of CARE is to help bring about a time when there are no more homeless pets, and when every cat or dog ever born can be guaranteed a good home with a loving family.

In addition to a shelter, CARE also offers a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in the hopes of deterring the homeless pet population in the Ruskin Community.

Membership and donations. We are a non-profit organization and rely primarily upon your donations, which are tax-deductible. For more information on being part of CARE please e-mail us your name and address.

Thank you for visiting our online home and we hope to see you at the shelter soon!

Meepers

Meepers is a special cat in need of a special home. She came to CARE in March 2010, ready to give birth to kittens although she was barely older than a kitten herself. After delivering six beautiful babies, Meepers was diagnosed with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). In the right environment, her quality of life can be the same as a non FIV+ cat. Meepers needs to be an indoor only cat, as cats with FIV are more susceptible to infection. And she would prefer to be your only cat. Treatment consists of good nourishment, protection from stress or infectious disease. This is a wonderful, loving cat  that deserves a furever home of her own. Won't you please find it in your heart to offer her one
