C.A.R.E. APPRECIATES VOLUNTEERS!
A smiling face and a heart full of love for animals is a description that would fit any number of volunteers at animal rescues or shelters across
the country. At C.A.R.E. (Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort), our volunteer base is comprised of almost 100 people, men and women,
young and young-at-heart. Many of our older volunteers are from the Sun City Center area and enjoy spending time with the cats. One of our
younger volunteers, Keren Philips, a 9th grader from Eastbay High School in Riverview, is working towards her hours of community service for
graduation requirements. She loves to help with exercising and socializing the dogs.
As any pet owner knows, the care of a pet is constant, becoming part of one's daily routine. The animals must be fed, exercised, socialized and their
environment kept clean. All this happens with the help of many people working together for a common good -- to give our temporary residents a loving,
clean and a healthy transitional place to live until they are placed in a "forever home."
Not all volunteers have a cat or dog companion, which is often the reason given for wanting to help at the shelter. Spending time volunteering
can help provide a sense of worth and great satisfaction. Without volunteers, C.A.R.E. would not be able to care for the cats and dogs that have
been temporarily placed in its care. We are thankful to have such a wonderful community of individuals who are willing to spend their time laboring
in duties ranging from cleaning litter boxes to playing with the animals.
For more information on how you can become a volunteer, please call C.A.R.E. at 813-645-2273, Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (in Ruskin). Take a chance and help someone else!
