Apollo, a Siamese-Snowshoe cat, had found the home he was always dreaming about, loving parents and a cute older sister.
Before taken in by C.A.R.E. and adopted by Bernadette and Albert Jahns, Apollo made a living on the run, dodging predators and
losing the ability to distinguish between friends and foes.
"He needed special attention, he was skittish, afraid of humans," Bernadette Jahns said.
With patience and loving tender care from his mom and dad and gentle shoves from his new sister, Susie, Apollo lost his need for
hiding. In the first week of his new life, he had made up his mind to hide from the world and camp out under the sofa during the
day and only come out at night to eat. Now, his favorite daytime lounging place is the top of the sofa, and at night, he sleeps
with his sister right next to the bedroom door. The companionship of another cat, recommended by C.A.R.E.'s personnel, also paid
off. Apollo and Susie are getting along fine and though Susie is the boss, Apollo likes to bug her. He also quickly learned to
communicate with his mom and dad, letting them know when he wants something and knowing the no-nos in the household.
Living in his new home, Apollo has developed an affinity for engineering, something he must have taken up from his dad, his mom
said. Every time Apollo plays with his toys and is ready to quit, he arranges the toys and leaves them neatly in a row before he walks away.
