Mr. Rogers

Mr. Rogers entered his new home at the end of July to become a playmate for Velcro. Velcro, like Mr. Rogers, came from an orphanage. They had both lived at C.A.R.E., where they enjoyed their stay amid love and compassion while waiting for a permanent home.

Gary Stebbins and Connie Larkin, regular participants in fund raisers for C.A.R.E., who had adopted both cats from C.A.R.E. within two years, said, "Mr. Rogers is a beautiful cat, very loving and well behaved and gets along wonderfully with Velcro."

Maybe reminiscence played a role in it, but in less than two days, Velcro and Mr. Rogers bonded and became friends. They now exercise together, chasing each other around the house and wrestle with each other and share the good life. They feast on Science Diet food to satisfy their healthy appetite, they watch the neighborhood, lying on a bench in an upstairs porch, to indulge in life entertainment, they slumber in front of a storm door to get their daily sunshine and they groom each other to pamper themselves. When the bath times roll on, they give each other moral support. To prevent too much shedding, Velcro and Mr. Rogers have to endure a bath every other Sunday.

Gary and Connie said, "This is by far the one thing they both hate the most; however, they do love to be brushed afterwards."
