OK... Where do I start. We are animal lovers always have been. We had a cat
named Sylvester. He was 10 years old, He had never been sick or in any
trouble. We got him when he was 6 weeks old. Well needless to say he died
suddenly of kidney failure. We were heartbroken when we had to put him
down. I told my husband I didn't want anther cat or kitten. So when we went
to the vet I asked him if he knew of a place that we could donate all of
our beloved cats belongings... the vet said "Don't do it yet, you will find
a place in your heart for another" at that time I said "no, I am in to much
pain" but he said well if you really want to do it he said their was a
place in Ruskin called CARE. That was on July 9.
Well never in my life have I came home to an empty house, well I mean empty
meaning animal-less (if that is a word)... It was very hard, I would feel
an excited feeling when we pulled in the driveway and then a big let down
when we walked in and no cat... So I had decided maybe we needed another
one or two... but I wanted kittens from a family. I also wanted brothers.
So my husband and I said maybe at Christmas time we would get one or two
because our jobs were off for a week or so and we would have time for them
to adjust. So I was curious of the shelter CARE so I looked it up on the
Internet, I have heard bad things about shelter animals and really had no
intentions of adopting even though I felt so bad for the animals. A lot of
people told me the animals are there for a reason. It is almost like
buying a used car with someone else problems. But like I said I went to the
website and right on the homepage was this cat that was so photogenic and I
thought he is so cute, I even showed my husband his picture and said "Isn't
he cool looking" and my husband agreed. Well I looked for kittens and at
the time none were available.
So a week later I went to the site again to see if there were any kittens
and still no, but the first cat on the search was "Oscar" I told my husband
this is a sign every time I go to the website he pops up... he just laughed
and went on his way. Well I found myself telling family and friends about
"Oscar" and lots of them told me its a sign go get him... I just laughed
and said "Its too early. We are gonna see how things go at Christmas time."
Well the next Thursday July 29th I picked up the local once a week paper at
the end of the driveway on my way to work. I arrived at work early so I
decided to look thru it before work. You would never believe who was in the
paper... "Oscar" so I took a picture of him in the paper and texted my mom
and said "OMG look who is in the paper today" she sent me back a text and
said "Just go get him" So I told my husband "This is a sign, I am working a
half a day and going to get him"
So I went and picked my mom up to meet her new grandson... I told her on
the way if he doesn't want anything to do with me I am not taking him home.
Well when we got there there were many cats in the room. He was running
around with the others but was interested, from a distance. So I fell in
love... They had a hard time getting him in the carrier, one of the people
there acually told me he isnt gonna be a "lap cat". Little did she know
he was sleeping in my lap in a week.
Well since he got home he got given a new name. He is now
"Roscoe-Peecoe-Train" and he was meant to be here. My mom said she new the
first time I talked of him he was gonna be the one. He definitely has a
different personality than the one we lost, but I love him and wouldn't
want to not have him.
Let me tell you a little about him. He will be 1 in December, he talks all
the time, he is a only child LOL... he has lots of toys (and he plays all
the time). He has one special Grey mouse he LOVES... we got him a new
kitty condo that almost goes to the ceiling and he loves it. His funny game
is if you throw his Grey mouse up on top of his kitty condo he looks at you
with wide eyes (like what are you doing, I guess his mouse if afraid of
heights) and rescues it, but he brings it back to you. You can throw it 10
times in a row and he will get it every time. When he is tired he lays down
next to it on the top.
I am so glad I adopted "Roscoe" life is much better these days, he brings
out the kitten in me and my husband...
THANK YOU
