Max didn't waste any time. The moment, Mark stooped down on one knee to coax him, Max climbed on his lap and gave him a good lick on his face to let
him know he wanted him as his new dad. Mark knew right then he found the dog he wanted.
Mark had come to C.A.R.E. looking for a companion for his dog Cody, who no longer had permission to accompany him to work. Mark had visited other
shelters without finding the perfect match for Cody when he heard about C.A.R.E. from a co-worker. His visit not only opened the door for the life
Max always dreamed about but also for a loving relationship between two dogs.
Adopted and returned before, Max, a Labrador retriever mix, had paid the price for his genes. One owner rejected him when he grew into a good size,
lively dog instead of staying the puppy the owner had adopted, and the next owner didn't like his healthy energy.
Moving in with his new dad, who changed Max's name to Cash, Cash finally has found the family that appreciates his zest for life. Even better, his
brother Cody matches his temperament. Cash likes to tease his older brother so that Cody has a reason to chase him, and they end up racing around the
house. Both are not morning dogs and stay in their dad's bed when their dad goes to work. Whenever they get up, though, they party, always forgetting
to put the house back in order before their dad comes home.
Even having free rein inside the house, in the patio and outside in the yard during the day, Cash and Cody enjoy the daily long walks with their dad
before dinner. Cash's other favorite hobbies are playing catch and unrestricted running. As leisure activities, he enjoys riding in his dad's truck
and lounging with his dad on the living room couch. Driven by his curiosity, Cash has made it his special project to dissect his and Cody's toys. He
loves to pull out their stuffing and squeakers and scatters the remains all over the house and yard.
Mark said he and Cody are fortunate to have found Cash. He is a wonderful dog, and he thanks C.A.R.E.'s volunteers for watching over him while in
their care.
