Gracie

Gracie is a Jack Russell mix. We adopted her from C.A.R.E. a while ago. I found her online at the C.A.R.E. web site. There was a good picture of her there. She looked much like our previous dog who was a Jack Russell/Beagle mix although she was much smaller. I decided to go see if we could be friends. We hit it off immediately and I brought my wife to see her also. Love at first sight...so we adopted her.

This little dog is a happy person. she plays with her ball and hunts geckoes and toads in the back yard. She follows us around everywhere and is up for any new adventure. She only barks at the doorbell, the mail truck and bicyclists who go by and otherwise is content to watch out for us from the back of the sofa where she can look out the window. She likes to walk, but only short walks. When she has gone far enough she turns around and refuses to go any farther, BUT if you are willing to carry her she will go as far as you want.

She is feisty and though 18 pounds, has an idea that she is the equal of dogs who outweigh her by a hundred pounds, BUT hides in the closet when we have thundershowers and will not come out until they are well out of the area.

She is really smart. She will chase her ball and bring it back to you ONCE. She will shake your hand on command ONCE, and she will sit up, lie down and stay when told only ONCE. Do not try to make her do these things twice. You must learn these things the first time.

We are very lucky to have found this dog at C.A.R.E.. She has enriched our lives with her antics and gentle sense of humor, and not a day goes by that she doesn't make us laugh... and we think not a day goes by that she doesn't laugh at us! Thanks to C.A.R.E. for all you do!
