Ginger

Hello everyone. We hope that you had a good Thanksgiving as we did. Ginger is settling in. She just could not get over all of the new sights and smells at her "forever" home. She barked and charged all 3 cats and at the rabbits cage. She has now learned that we don't bark and charge the other animals. You can break her concentration when she is watching the cats walk around, so I at least know that they will soon get along. It is going to take longer with the rabbit. We had sort of and issue on Wed., as she tried to assert herself with me and I had to remind her who the Alpha female in the house is. She responds very well to voice commands. I want to commend all of you there, as Ginger knows her sit, stay and lie down commands. We are working on heel, and walking on her leash. She also went for her vet checkup and passed with flying colors.

I took her on her first very long walk yesterday, and by last night she finally slept all through the night in the very large cage I borrowed from my neighbor. She sleeps in there at night to give the cats a break at night. We still need to work on the "herding" of the cats. My one male just does not care about her anymore. The 21 pounder "stalks" Ginger when he walks through the house. It is really funny to watch him as he puffs himself all up and creeps to where he is going. Even that is getting better. The kitten is working on it.

Ginger is such a delight and has so much fun with us. My husband absolutely loves her too. In fact, he told me just tonight that when he gets his bonus, he wants to fence in the back yard so she can run. The man loves his yard as we put in every plug and piece of sod in both the back in the front, so I ran very quickly the other day and picked up her business when she went in the yard. He looked at me and said that HE would have gotten it later... I laughed and asked him who he was and what did he do with my husband....

Please tell all her two-legged friends at the shelter that she is bonding very well with us, and we love her so much already. Ginger sends her love and "doggie" kisses. Thank you again so much for matching her up to us.
