After my 19-year old cat Felix passed, I adopted another rescue cat ("Gator") in 2003. Gator turned out to have special needs;
she was born with a PDA and other heart problems. But, after open-heart surgery and two heart meds daily for the rest of her life,
she was "stable" enough for a sibling. So, being new to the area, off I went to C.A.R.E. to adopt a kitty.
"Hawk" was found in a barn in Ruskin along with her two siblings and brought to C.A.R.E. by the farmer that discovered them. C.A.R.E.
took them in and put them up for adoption. I adopted Hawk (then "Dolly") in May 2005 at a whopping 3 lbs. and 6 oz. - it's a girl!
It had been 20 years since I had a kitten, and it was like the wild, wild west. Gator and I could only watch and marvel at Hawk's
endless energy and climbing abilities. And, despite eating like a horse, she maintains a trim figure and stays a steady 10 lbs. as an adult.
As you can see from the picture, she has beautiful blue eyes (and a personality to match). Not that I am biased or anything (what Mommy isn't?).
I would like to thank C.A.R.E. and Dr. Ott / Ruskin Animal Hospital for saving Hawk's life, enabling her to join mine (and Gator's), and
continuing her top-notch medical care. She is thriving in her forever home, and hopes No More Homeless Pets becomes a reality for every kitty!
