Lucy

Lucy was a six-year old Tortishell lady who came to C.A.R.E. in November of 2004. She was relinquished after the child of her owner developed a bad allergy attributed to Lucy. She didn't adjust well to the environment at the shelter, what with all the other feline competition in our cattery. So she went on a short hunger strike losing about 10% of her weight. She began tolerating us by January and started to regain her weight. But for the next few months she stayed by herself despite much urging from our volunteers to come out and greet visitors. In April, Sandra came looking for a new friend. Something between these two clicked and, eventually, Sandra and Lucy adopted each other. By all accounts they are getting along fine. Lucy has come out of her shell and has taken to sleeping on the pillow next to Sandra. Now that she is "queen" again, Lucy seems quite content in her new home and this has the makings of a story with a very happy ending. Good luck you two!
