Winston

Hi, my name is Winston and this is my story. I try not to remember what happened to me before being dropped off at CARE in October of 2004, because it was from that day on that I became the luckiest Spaniel of the entire world. You see, I met one of their volunteers and she told me that her neighbors were hoping to adopt a dog and that she thought that we would be a perfect match. So my soon-to-be parents came over that day to visit me. It took no time for me to convince them that I should be their dog and wow, did my life change. Every day was a new and wonderful experience. We played everyday and I taught them the rules of the house. They helped me grow from an unhealthy 14 pounds to over 26 pounds by feeding me oatmeal, brown rice and other healthy food. They made sure I took my medicine to get rid of those pesky ringworms (although they made me get shots - ouch!). I also have a nice lady, Ms. Emily, come to my house to give me the full spa treatment -- special baths, manicures, massages and she even brushes my teeth. Over the last two years, I have traveled all over the place. We have stayed in hotels around the state and visited with many relatives and friends. I love exploring new places and I have made many friends in and out of the neighborhood. I love going to Petsmart on the weekends and going to dog-friendly restaurants. I really enjoy being at home, either playing around the house or walking with all my buddies in the neighborhood, several of whom were lucky enough to be adopted from CARE. I often walk with the pack to protect the neighborhood. I may be the smallest in the pack, but I can sure make more noise than the others. I like to think I am the pack leader but I am not sure those big guys agree. When I am inside the house, I like to play with my many toys. I take long walks and often go to the park to play, but my favorite times are outside when I get to chase the squirrels (and sometimes ducks). We have to keep the yard free from those guys so we chase them away every morning and afternoon. Mom gets annoyed with me because I get dirty and mess up the floors. I keep telling her that keeping the house safe from those critters is worth the mess. She won't admit it, but I sometimes see her watching me and she cheers me on. I bring Mom and Dad lots of love and none of us could imagine our lives without each other. We love being together and we all believe that we are the luckiest and happiest family now.
