It was about 6 months after losing our dog Honey when my friend, Trish Todd, sent me a picture of a little male dog at C.A.R.E. I wasn't sure about getting another dog after the heartache of losing Honey and definitely wasn't sure about have a male dog since I had only ever had female dogs. But his goofy face prompted me to go check him out, and it was one of the best decisions I have had made!
October 29, 2020, I got the call that we could adopt him and I was in tears right in the middle of the potato chip aisle at Publix. I headed down to Ruskin and loaded him into the car. He was smiling the whole time. When we got home, he plopped on the couch and was home! He has been the best dog we have ever had. He loves to cuddle, watching squirrels and crows in the back yard, walks and riding in the car. He has never met a stranger, so he's not the best guard dog. LOL. He's a lazy boy, but the minute you ask if he wants to go for a walk or ride, he jumps up and runs to the door. He's very regimented and likes a regular routine, including letting us know when he thinks it's time to go to bed! He's so loving and gentle. All our neighbors and family love him so much. When we take him to the park, people always comment on how cute and sweet he is. We are so grateful to Trish and to C.A.R.E. for finding our Baby Petey. Christine and Jamie Cooley
