C.a.r.e. adoption process
For a successful placement of a rescued animal, C.A.R.E.’s goals in the adoption process are to consider and understand each animal, where they came from, how they got to our rescue shelter, and any behavioral tendencies or environmental needs that have been identified.
C.A.R.E. provides this information, to potential adopters, including any medical needs that may have been discovered after being examined by our veterinarians.
Taking this all into consideration, C.A.R.E. tries its best to determine the “best fit” between the animal and the adopter.

Taking this all into consideration, C.A.R.E. tries its best to determine the “best fit” between the animal and the adopter.
The following are a few details about C.A.R.E.’s adoption process:
- Potential adopters meet with the desired animal with a staff/volunteer at the shelter discussing the adopter’s interest and need of the desired animal.
- Potential adopters complete an application providing a veterinarian reference as indicated on the application.
- C.A.R.E. recommends everyone living in the home come out and meet the desired animal prior to adoption.
- C.A.R.E. requires a “meet and greet”, if adopting a dog and there is another dog in the home, to ensure a good match.
- C.A.R.E. often receives multiple applications on the same desired animal. Adoptions are based on “best fit” and not on first to apply. If there are multiple “best fit” applications, an adopter is selected at random.
- C.A.R.E. does not offer same day adoptions.
- Applications are reviewed with varying acceptance times pending reference verifications. “Best fit” adopters will be notified.
