Annie’s journey with C.A.R.E. was for almost 3 years. Orphaned Annie was young and exuberant, wasn’t a fan of any truck or bicycle that crossed her path, but loved her volunteers. In her outside run she felt the stress of being confined and never could settle down.
• Our office coordinator suggested letting her hang out. in the office. Annie inside was a different dog. Playful but protective with a sense of calm. Now the challenge was for someone else to see that side of her. We say every dog has an owner; we just have to Be patient and let them find each other. • A Christmas Miracle December 2024! Christmas Eve, Annie found her owners. They promised to show love and patience and give her the time she needs to adjust to her new life. • Rorie (Annie’s new name): “She is settling in nicely. We had people over for Christmas, and she was a big hit. She’s such a smart, loving baby. We, and our family and friends, are in love with her.” Warner Family

My husband and I adopted a kitten, Bolt (formerly Mouse), in September. Our last cat passed away in March of this year. We had heard about the C.A.R.E. and the attention your animals receive from your volunteers, so when it came time to adopt again, we knew our first stop would be C.A.R.E. What a wonderful addition Bolt has been to our family. He was comfortable in our home right away. Bolt is playful, fun, and loving. We have our morning conversations before he rests on our laps for a bit. He is quite talkative and spreads his love freely. He has adjusted to adoption better than any cat we have ever had. We can only think of one main reason why he is so amazing—your volunteers. The socialization your animals receive is second to none. Nancy & Ron
Tanner has melded seamlessly into the family. (Adopted in 2023)
He had a shih tzu playmate...about half his size, and that cutie could back him into the corner! He enjoyed his first motor home vacation for ten days over the 4th of July He really loves riding in the golf cart with the wind in his face. See his new life jacket for his maiden voyage on the paddle board. Some things haven't changed. I am only his best friend when Jim isn't around. Or when I have food. He will eat anything! Jim saves him the last row of corn on the cob....he loves it. He still adores Jim. Goes everywhere with him. He hasn't been out of state yet, but we are headed to the Smokies for 6 weeks in October in the motor home. Out west next year, so he'll get to pee in a lot of states! It was about 6 months after losing our dog Honey when my friend, Trish Todd, sent me a picture of a little male dog at C.A.R.E. I wasn't sure about getting another dog after the heartache of losing Honey and definitely wasn't sure about have a male dog since I had only ever had female dogs. But his goofy face prompted me to go check him out, and it was one of the best decisions I have had made!
October 29, 2020, I got the call that we could adopt him and I was in tears right in the middle of the potato chip aisle at Publix. I headed down to Ruskin and loaded him into the car. He was smiling the whole time. When we got home, he plopped on the couch and was home! He has been the best dog we have ever had. He loves to cuddle, watching squirrels and crows in the back yard, walks and riding in the car. He has never met a stranger, so he's not the best guard dog. LOL. He's a lazy boy, but the minute you ask if he wants to go for a walk or ride, he jumps up and runs to the door. He's very regimented and likes a regular routine, including letting us know when he thinks it's time to go to bed! He's so loving and gentle. All our neighbors and family love him so much. When we take him to the park, people always comment on how cute and sweet he is. We are so grateful to Trish and to C.A.R.E. for finding our Baby Petey. Christine and Jamie Cooley In 2020, I decided I wanted to visit C.A.R.E. shelter for my birthday to look and play with the kittens. We were originally looking at a different kitten, but when we came back a second time we noticed a larger kitten in the room that we hadn’t even seen the first time. He was very shy and hid under a cat tree, but when my dad sat down he came over and laid across his lap! We knew right then that we had to adopt him. We took him home he was a little scared, hiding under furniture. He was so tiny and his ears were so big! Fast forward 4 years, and Mango is the sweetest and most tolerant cat I’ve ever known. He loves to sleep on his back and to chase lizards on the back porch.
We adopted Toby on March 1st. His name was Teco at the shelter. Did well in the car, ate well, played nice with Chuck, did great with company, and slept with us in bed all night with no accidents!! Today he visited the dog park and played with all the dogs and also slept next to his new brother Chuck for the first time. He even went on a two mile walk today and lots of short walks. It's been a great weekend!!
Lolly Butz This is Lucy formally known as Suzy. We adopted her last summer 2023! It’s been an adventure having Lucy in our family as she loves her walks and chewing (on furniture). She insists she working on it! She also loves to be loved and to give love and can’t get close enough to you which is why we deal with the chewing! She also loves to play with her sister Daisy when Daisy feels like it. Lucy has been a great addition to our family we couldn’t imagine life without her. Thank you C.A.R.E.
Kim Levering This is Daisy we adopted her in 2020. She was such a wonderful addition to our family of 5 after losing our last dog of 14+years. Daisy is a very timid dog. She loves to lie under or on top of our bed depending on the noise level in and outside the house. She does love people and comes out when new people come! She loves her treats and her new sister Lucy. We also got from C.A.R.E.
Kim Levering Hello everyone at CARE,
Firstly, I would like to ‘thank you’ for taking such good care of me during my stay and finding me my ‘forever home’, I love my new family. I am settling-in well, I have new beds, lots of new toys, new clothes for the cold mornings and more love than I could ever have imagined. I did have a rough night last night, it is going to take me a bit of time to get used to my crate for nights and when mommy and daddy are away (I cried most of the night). Luckily they saved me in the morning and all was well. I have had several little walks and love my surroundings. Can you please tell Miss Gloria that I have my first visit with Dr. Heaton at Ruskin Animal Clinic on Tues, Feb 27. As you can tell from the attached photo, I love snuggling with my new daddy. I know my new home is going to be fantastic. Thank you again for the wonderful love and care that all of you gave to me during my stay. I big cuddle and lots of kisses, Milo When Zoro plays with his toy's he shakes his head, and flips them across the room. If you encourage him to "go go go" he will show off and run full throttle around the room.
In the evening he loves to coddle, and sleeps all night. He brings so much joy to the house. Adopter – Art |
